SAIP Wire
At DROT we are leaders in the manufacture of SAIP wire (Spheroidized Annealed in Process), a product designed for processes that demand greater plastic deformation with the advantages of a drawn wire.
Depending on the chemical composition and the grade of the steel, the hard drawn wire goes through a specific heat treatment, either annealing or spheroidizing, in a controlled atmosphere that prevents decarburization. The material is then given a surface treatment that prepares it for a light final reduction known as skin pass.
The process yields a material with a relaxed internal structure and a homogeneous surface, so the steel flows plastically through the matrices without cracking.
Internationally this product is also known as CHQ (Cold Heading Quality). In Argentina, it is called RAUP (spanish acronym for “annealed before the final drawing pass”).
